The O'Carolan Summer School & Harp & Traditional Music Festival takes place in Keadue each summer. The Festival includes concerts, ceilidhe, harp recitals, International Harp Competition, music sessions and lectures in its programme. There is tuition in all instruments - fiddle, flute, banjo, bodhrán, tin whistle, set dancing, traditional singing and sean nós dancing.

Loughglynn Music Festival opens at Loughglynn Community Centre on Friday, 30th August, with dancing to the Mike Denver Band, dancing on Saturday night to The Conquerers, dancing on Sunday night to Robert Mizzel & The Country Kings, and closing the festival on Monday night is Jimmy Buckley. Children's events are also taking place during the weekend, i.e. children's fancy dress and disco on the Sunday, attitude dance including hip hop on the Monday. This is an annual fundraising event

Athlone Golf Club was founded in 1892. It is a parkland course, surrounded by Lough Ree on 3 sides, sand-based greens and tees. Four new water features.
